    Dermal Fillers

Smoothing facial folds and wrinkles and revolumizing the face can make an enormous difference in a person’s appearance and make them look several years younger. Dermal fillers can help reverse the signs of aging and provide patients with a natural, youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are used to:

  • Reduce or eliminate wrinkles
  • Reduce the appearance of scars
  • Enhance lips
  • Enhance the contours of the face

  • There are a number of dermal fillers available today. Dr. McKinlay will work with you individually to determine the best filler for your individual circumstances. Topical anesthetic cream or local anesthetic will be used to numb the targeted area. Then, using a small needle, the dermal filler will carefully be injected into each area being treated. Side effects are uncommon, but can include: bruising, redness and swelling among others. Duration of results vary depending on the type of filler injected.

    Sclerotherapy

This popular and safe procedure is used to eliminate those unwanted superficial telangiectasias (spider veins) located on your legs. A solution, called a sclerosing agent, is injected through a very fine tiny needle directly into the spider veins to make them disappear. The solution works by drying out the tiny cells that line the blood vessels (spider veins) causing the vessels (spider veins) to collapse. Sclerotherapy is a well-proven procedure and has been in use since the 1930s. It works better than any laser that is currently available to treat this condition.

    Chemical Peels

Chemical peels, are a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which causes it to eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin Chemical peels are performed on the face, neck, or hands. They can be used to:

  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging, and family history
  • Improve the appearance of mild scarring
  • Treat certain types of acne
  • Reduce age spots, freckles, and dark patches due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills (melasma)
  • Improve the look and feel of skin that is dull in texture and color
  • Treat precancerous lesions. Areas of sun damage, which may contain pre-cancerous keratoses that appear as scaly spots, may improve after chemical peeling. Following treatment, new pre-cancerous lesions are less likely to appear.
